Forsyth County was selected as a RESTORe-CARE pilot study site in partnership with researchers at Duke University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, and Forsyth County Emergency Services.

Forsyth County is one of the first location in the U.S. to pilot using drones to deliver life-saving AEDs during out-of-hospital cardiac events. Partnering with its county Sheriff's Office, Emergency Services and local health officials, Forsyth County is leading the way toward faster emergency cardiac care.

Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr
Sheriff Bobby F Kimbrough Jr. was born and raised in Forsyth County. As the first African-American Sheriff of Forsyth County, Sheriff Kimbrough has worked to improve the relationship between the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the community, advancing technology, and enhancing the work already being done by the team members at the Sheriff’s Office. Joey Hundley
Chief Joey Hundley began serving as the director of Emergency Services for Forsyth County, NC, in December 2022, overseeing the County’s EMS system, 911 Communications and the Fire Marshals Office. He retired from the United States Navy in 2016 after 26 years of honorable service that included tours as a submarine chief of the boat and command master chief. Stephen Lee Powell
Stephen Lee Powell, MD is a practicing emergency physician at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Brenner Children’s Hospital, and the medical director for Forsyth County Emergency Services. In this capacity he provides medical oversight of prehospital patient care in 911, Fire and EMS. He also serves as the program director for the EMS and Disaster Fellowship at Wake Forest to improve processes, quality management and patient care in Forsyth County.
